ICE conducts immigration enforcement operations in Hutchinson, Kansas

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents conducted operations in Hutchinson on Thursday, resulting in at least two detentions, according to local advocacy organizations.
Hutch In Harmony, a grassroots social justice organization based on East Sherman Street, reported confirmed ICE presence at Superior Boiler in the south-central Kansas city. The nonprofit posted the information on social media, urging community members to remain vigilant.
"We have received confirmed reports of ICE presence today at Superior Boiler in Hutchinson. At least two individuals have been taken," the organization stated in its Facebook post.
The group advised residents to keep important paperwork accessible, have family emergency plans in place and review their legal rights. The post reminded community members of their right to remain silent and right to an attorney, noting they are not required to open doors without a signed warrant.
"Our community's strength is in standing together. Stay alert, protect one another, and spread the word," the organization wrote.
ICE officials could not immediately be reached for comment regarding the scope or nature of the enforcement action.
Hutch In Harmony said it would release additional "Know Your Rights" information for local businesses. The organization operates as a nonprofit focused on community bridge-building and social justice initiatives in the Hutchinson area.
The enforcement action comes amid ongoing federal immigration operations across the country under the current administration.
