Hutchinson man hospitalized after single-vehicle crash

POTTAWATOMIE COUNTY, Kan. (AP) — A 43-year-old Hutchinson man was hospitalized Friday afternoon after losing control of his vehicle and crashing into guardrails and a tree in Pottawatomie County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol said Zachary Lynn Stinson was driving a 2003 Toyota Corolla southbound on Kansas Highway 13 near Cedar Creek Road when the accident occurred shortly after 2 p.m.

According to the patrol, Stinson's vehicle drifted left of center while navigating a curve and nearly collided with an oncoming northbound car. When Stinson corrected back into the southbound lane, he lost control of the vehicle.

The car veered onto the east shoulder of the roadway, where it struck two guardrails before hitting a tree, the patrol reported.

Emergency medical services transported Stinson to Stormont Vail Health in Topeka for treatment of his injuries. The highway patrol said Stinson was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

The patrol is investigating the cause of the accident.
