Hutchinson Man Arrested in Connection with Hit-and-Run Incident

Hutchinson police have arrested a 41-year-old man on attempted first-degree homicide charges following a Wednesday morning incident in which a female pedestrian was struck by a vehicle.

Officers responded at 9:01 a.m. to the 300 block of East 3rd Avenue after a passing motorist reported that a woman had been hit while walking on the sidewalk. The victim sustained visible injuries and was transported to Hutchinson Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Police identified Jeffrey L. McCaskey, 41, of Hutchinson, as a suspect known to the victim and arrested him on the attempted homicide charge.

The incident occurred when the victim was walking on the sidewalk and was struck by a vehicle, according to the police report. Investigation led officers to identify McCaskey as the suspect.

Police are requesting assistance from anyone who may have witnessed the disturbance in the 300 block of East 3rd Avenue or has surveillance cameras in the area.
