Hutchinson issues courtesy reminders for overgrown lawns to prevent $150 penalty
Property owners have 10 days to comply after a formal notice before facing city abatement costs.
HUTCHINSON — Hutchinson residents with grass, weeds or indigenous vegetation taller than 12 inches will now receive a 72-hour courtesy door hanger reminder before the city issues a formal nuisance notice. Property owners have 10 days to bring their lawns into compliance after receiving the formal notice, which the city limits to one per calendar year. If lawns remain overgrown after the deadline, the city will dispatch crews to mow the property and bill the owner for abatement costs alongside a $150 administrative fee.
