HAYS, Kan. — A group of Hutchinson High School students returned from Fort Hays State University on April 15 with three ribbons and 17 certificates of recognition after competing against regional peers at the university's 51st Annual High School Art Exhibition.

Elliana Terriquez took top honors with a first-place ribbon. Chloie Stoughton claimed both the second- and third-place ribbons, making her the most decorated individual competitor in the HHS group.
Teacher Hannah Lounsbury traveled with the students to Hays. The delegation — Bailey Street, Maylee Rose, Stoughton, Braelynn Crahan, Madison Svoboda and Lea Ray — submitted work in clay, pencil, chalk and watercolor. Lounsbury shares instructional duties at HHS with fellow art teachers Julian Stropes and Julie Johnson.
Eight students received certificates of recognition: Naimah Ellis, Emily Gable, Shanessa Higgins, Emma Leatherman, Ruby Pena Hernandez, Kyndal Richardson, Rose and Stoughton. Several received more than one certificate.
