Hutchinson High School lifts lockdown after police find no credible threat
Information obtained from USD 308 & Hutchinson Police Department Joint Press Release

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Hutchinson High School was placed on lockdown Tuesday morning after police received a threat that investigators believe was a swatting incident, according to a joint statement from USD 308 and the Hutchinson Police Department.
The Hutchinson Police Department received a call at 11:36 a.m. from an unknown individual regarding a threat directed at the high school. Police and sheriff's officers responded and established a perimeter around the campus while school administrators activated lockdown procedures.
As a precautionary measure, Graber Elementary and the Transitional Learning Center also entered secure mode and held recess indoors.
Officers searched the entire high school premises and determined there was no credible threat to the school or public. The lockdown was lifted and classes resumed.
Police said they believe the incident was a swatting call — a hoax threat designed to provoke an emergency response. Investigators said no students at Hutchinson High School were involved in making the threat, and any names circulating in the community as persons of interest were not credible.
The Hutchinson Police Department and Hutchinson Public Schools said they take all threats seriously and thanked the community for their cooperation.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Hutchinson Police Department at 620-694-2816, their local law enforcement agency or Crime Stoppers of Reno County at 800-222-TIPS. The case number is 2025-40889.
