Hutchinson Fire Department Extinguishes East Side Garage Fire

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Hutchinson Fire Department crews quickly extinguished a detached garage fire on the city's east side the afternoon of Oct. 21.
Firefighters responded to the 1500 block of East 23rd Avenue after receiving a report of a detached garage on fire. First-arriving crews found a 24-by-24-foot garage with heavy fire showing from the building, according to a press release from Jeremy Unruh, division chief of operations.
Crews entered the garage and started an aggressive attack, extinguishing the fire quickly.
No one was reported to be inside, and no injuries were noted. The home on the property was undamaged and was occupied by one person and two dogs. The fire damaged a large portion of the garage with no damage to nearby exposures.
The fire is currently under investigation.
