Hutchinson Fire Department extinguishes commercial structure fire on East Avenue A

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Hutchinson Fire Department responded to a commercial structure fire at 201 East Avenue A on Wednesday morning, Jan. 21, containing the blaze to a limited area with no reported injuries.
Fire crews arrived at the scene at 1:37 a.m. to find a small fire involving the soffit and roof area of the structure. Due to rapid response times, firefighters quickly contained the fire to a very limited area, according to a press release from Division Chief of Operations Jeremy Unruh.
The prompt notification to emergency services and swift, coordinated actions by fire crews prevented further extension of the fire and helped preserve an iconic local business, officials said.
The cause of the fire is considered electrical in nature.
The Hutchinson Fire Department emphasized the importance of early reporting and quick response in minimizing property damage and ensuring public safety.
The department thanked community partners for their assistance, including Hutchinson Police, Hutchinson Reno County Emergency Communications, Reno County EMS, Kansas Gas and Evergy.
