Hutchinson Community Foundation Grant Applications Due Thursday

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Local nonprofits have until Thursday to submit applications for the Hutchinson Community Foundation's Impact Cycle 2 grants, which provide funding for projects aimed at improving conditions across Reno County.

The foundation's Fund for Reno County grant program offers two annual funding cycles targeting specific areas of community impact. Impact Cycle 2 applications are due Aug. 15, with the application period having opened June 16.

"Each represents an innovative approach or collaboration, a new efficiency for an established organization, a critical need that requires 'just in time' funding, or an opportunity that needs just a bit of local support to leverage great resources for our community," according to the foundation's website.

The Fund for Reno County serves as the foundation's unrestricted grantmaking fund, allowing it to address changing community needs. Grant amounts vary from small targeted awards to larger, far-reaching initiatives.

All applications must be submitted online through the Foundant Grant Lifecycle Management system. Community groups without 501(c)(3) status may apply if another tax-exempt organization serves as a fiscal sponsor.

The foundation, established in 1989, operates multiple grant programs throughout the year. Impact Cycle 1 applications were due Feb. 28, 2025, with the application period having opened earlier this year.

Other foundation programs include Community Health Improvement Grants, developed in partnership with Hutchinson Regional Medical Foundation and United Way of Reno County. These grants support the 2023 Community Health Improvement Plan and typically range from $1,000 to $10,000.

The foundation also operates the Youth Philanthropy Council, which distributes approximately $5,000 annually in grants from the Richard W. Dillon Memorial Fund for Youth Philanthropy. High school students across Reno County participate in the youth-led grantmaking program.

Additional programs include the Charles E. Carey Memorial Fund, supporting nonprofits in arts and culture, education and health services, and the Leadership Coaching Program, offering grants up to $1,800 for professional development.

For questions about grant applications or to discuss project ideas, organizations can contact Program Officer Sarah Blake at sarah@hutchcf.org or 620-663-5293.

The foundation is located at 1 N. Main St., Suite 501, in Hutchinson.
