Hutchinson Community College student earns academic recognition

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A Hutchinson Community College student has been named to the institution's Distinguished Dragons program for his academic achievements and campus leadership.
Camre Haumont of Turon completed his studies in Universal Studies at the two-year college while maintaining a spot on the President's Honor Roll throughout his tenure. The recognition comes as part of the college's annual student excellence program.
During his time at Hutchinson Community College, Haumont founded the campus Pickleball organization and served as its president. He also held leadership positions including tri-chair of the Honors Student Council and president of the Communication Club.
Haumont worked as a college ambassador and academic tutor while serving as team captain for the institution's eSports program. Outside his academic pursuits, he worked as a guard at the Hutchinson Correctional Facility and serves with the Army National Guard.
His achievements culminated in April when he was named to the Kansas All-State Academic Team during ceremonies in Topeka.
"Camre is an outstanding student that is always doing something on campus," college officials noted in announcing the recognition. "He also has an infectious personality that makes people on campus feel welcome."
The student met his wife, Grace Haumont, during his time at the college.
Hutchinson Community College, located at 1300 N. Plum St., serves students throughout central Kansas with associate degree and certificate programs. The Distinguished Dragons program recognizes students who demonstrate exceptional academic performance and campus involvement.
The college's summer student excellence series continues to highlight achievements of graduating students and community members.
