Hutchinson City Council to weigh new housing district, structure condemnations
Council members will also hear updates on the Woodie Seat Freeway reopening and review bids for major infrastructure projects
HUTCHINSON — The Hutchinson City Council will hold a public hearing Tuesday to consider establishing a Reinvestment Housing Incentive District for the 57-lot Meadows on Monroe development, a project aimed at addressing the city's ongoing housing shortage.
During the 5:30 p.m. meeting at City Hall, the council will also vote on resolutions to condemn six properties deemed unsafe, including a building at 3405 E. 4th Ave. that has been operating as an unpermitted worm farm.
Additionally, officials will receive a progress report on the Woodie Seat Freeway Phase II project, which is on track to reopen by the end of June once concrete and coating work on the Avenue C bridge is complete.
The agenda features a vote on a development agreement between the city and Takako, as well as a review of bid results for the 2024 Watermain Replacement Project and the resurfacing of Kansas Highway 61 from U.S. Route 50 to 17th Avenue.
Council members will also resume their discussion on drafting a formal policy to govern how ceremonial city proclamations are requested and issued.
Prior to the regular session, the council will convene a special meeting and executive session at 4 p.m. The regular public meeting will be available to stream on the city's Facebook and YouTube pages.
