Hutchinson CC celebrates retirement, honors student achievements

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Hutchinson Community College is celebrating the retirement of a longtime administrator while recognizing outstanding student achievements through its Distinguished Dragon program.
Brooks Mantooth, the college's director of human resources, retired after 37 years of dedicated service, the college announced on social media. Mantooth played a vital role in hiring and supporting hundreds of employees throughout his tenure and helped shape the campus community.
"Since day one, he has played a vital role in hiring and supporting hundreds of Blue Dragon employees, shaping the heart of our campus community," the college stated in its announcement.
Mantooth, an active member of the Society for Human Resource Management, held various roles within the Central Kansas chapter and provided guidance to students preparing for their careers. He offered mock interviews and career counseling to help build student confidence.
Beyond his professional duties, Mantooth contributed to campus life through holiday programs, scholarship activities and support for United Way initiatives. The college noted his "incredible memory and genuine kindness" made everyone feel valued.
Meanwhile, the college highlighted two students through its Distinguished Dragon program, which recognizes exceptional academic and community achievements.

Zachary Denholm of Hillsboro, Kan., who studied Computer Drafting Technology, earned recognition for his academic excellence and leadership. Denholm was repeatedly named to the President's Honors Roll and graduated with High Honors. He served as a captain for the college's eSports team and won Division 5 in Mario Kart competition.
Denholm was also named to the Kansas All-State Academic Team and was a member of Phi Theta Kappa honor society.

Reanna Eilrich of McPherson, Kan., studied Business Administration and was recognized for her academic achievements and community service. Eilrich was a member of Phi Theta Kappa, the college's Honors Program and the Honors Student Council. She was repeatedly named to the Vice President's Honor Roll and fulfilled requirements to graduate with High Honors.
Eilrich completed extensive community service, particularly in her hometown, and participated in the college's Research and Leadership Symposium.
"They led, inspired, and stood out," the college said of its Distinguished Dragon honorees.
The college is also seeking student workers for the upcoming fall football season, offering positions in film and video production, equipment management and student coaching, with scholarships available.
