Hutchinson Art Center to Feature Photography by Theology Scholar Evan Graber

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Hutchinson Art Center will showcase the photography work of Kansas artist and theology scholar Evan Graber in its Front Gallery from Sept. 12 through Oct. 11.

Graber, who teaches religion and philosophy at Friends University and Butler Community College, brings a unique perspective to his photography through his academic background in theology and ethics. His educational journey includes studies at John Brown University, the University of Edinburgh, Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen, and the Tübinger Stift.

The photographer's research interests focus on theologians Anselm and Karl Barth, as well as John McIntyre and the role of imagination in theological formulation. His broader academic interests encompass public theology and the intersection of theology with art and literature, alongside a particular focus on Kansas subjects.

At Friends University and Butler Community College, Graber emphasizes ethics in his teaching of religion and philosophy courses.

Art center officials said Graber's work offers viewers an opportunity to see familiar subjects through a different lens, influenced by his theological training and academic perspective.

The exhibition opens Sept. 12 in the art center's Front Gallery and will remain on display through Oct. 11. The Hutchinson Art Center is located in downtown Hutchinson.

Gallery hours and additional information about the exhibition are available through the Hutchinson Art Center.
