Hutchinson Art Center hosts weekly drawing sessions for local artists

HUTCHINSON, Kan. (AP) — The Hutchinson Art Center continues its Saturday Morning Artists program, offering weekly figure drawing sessions that welcome both experienced artists and newcomers to the community.

The sessions run from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. each Saturday with a come-and-go format that allows participants to work at their own pace. Artists pay $8 per session and bring their own supplies to join the supportive creative environment.

Recent sessions have featured live models, including Natalynn, who posed for artists during a Saturday session. The art center shares participants' completed artwork on social media platforms at 4 p.m. following each session.

Remote participation is also available for artists who cannot attend in person. Those working from home can draw or paint the week's model and submit their artwork via email to media@hutchinsonartcenter.net by 3:30 p.m. to be included in the afternoon showcase.

The art center is actively seeking new models for future sessions. Information about modeling opportunities is available on the center's website at hutchinsonartcenter.net.

The next Saturday Morning Artists session is scheduled for July 5. Additional details about the program and other art center classes are available on the organization's website.

The program reflects the art center's mission to provide accessible creative opportunities for the Hutchinson community.

This week's featured artists included Kathie Moore, Louise Hutchison, Larry Bolton, Cathy Wilkins, Becky Hogue, Darci Barker and Peg Stephens.
