HURON, S.D. — The Huron City Commission approved a pay request of $460,353.24 to BX Civil and Construction for the 2024 Dakota Avenue improvement project. Assistant City Engineer Dennis Bennett told commissioners this payment covers the majority of the remaining work, noting that only a few minor "punch list" items remain to be addressed in the spring. The motion passed unanimously.

New vehicle bridge approved for Broadland Creek Golf Course

HURON, S.D. — Commissioners voted to accept a $45,928 quote from True North Steel of Fargo, North Dakota, to design and fabricate a new vehicle bridge for the Broadland Creek Golf Course. City officials noted that the previous bridge was suffering from bank erosion and was not rated for the heavy maintenance equipment often used by the water department. The new bridge will accommodate skid loaders and other vehicles, and installation is expected by late June or early July.
