Commission approves $1.1 million payment for spring paving
HURON, S.D. - The Huron City Commission unanimously approved a $1.1 million payment to a contractor for the city's spring asphalt milling and overlay project. The city's newly appointed assistant engineer, Schaun Schnathorst, informed the commission that spring paving operations are now complete. The only remaining work includes striping on the newly paved Ninth Street and the 24th Street north and south service roads.
City announces Memorial Day solid waste collection schedule
HURON, S.D. - The solid waste rubble site will be closed from Saturday, May 23, through Monday, May 25, in observance of the Memorial Day holiday. Monday's regular garbage, recycling and grass collection will instead be picked up on Wednesday, May 27. Residents are reminded to place their containers out the night before, as collection trucks will not be rerouted.
City offices to close for Memorial Day
HURON, S.D. - All city offices will be closed on Monday, May 25, in observance of the Memorial Day holiday. Due to the closure, the Huron City Commission will not hold its regularly scheduled Monday evening meeting that week.
Parade scheduled for June
HURON, S.D. - The Huron City Commission approved a parade request from the Huron Area Antique Power Association. The local event is scheduled to take place on June 19, running from 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. The approval was passed unanimously as part of the commission's routine consent agenda.
