High Wind Warning Issued for Central Kansas Through Sunday Evening
Gusts up to 65 mph expected with blowing dust reducing visibility across the region
WICHITA, Kan. — The National Weather Service in Wichita issued a high wind warning Sunday for much of central and south-central Kansas, with gusts between 55 and 65 mph and blowing dust expected from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. The warning covers communities including Russell, Great Bend, Hutchinson, Pratt and Harper, while areas farther east — including Salina, Emporia, Wichita, Winfield, Eureka, Chanute and Coffeyville — fall under a wind advisory. Forecasters urged residents to secure loose outdoor items and warned of patchy low visibility in blowing dust and hazardous driving conditions for high-profile vehicles.
