Hays airport receives $1.3 million grant for runway reconstruction
State and federal funds will cover nearly the entire cost of the $1.37 million infrastructure project
HAYS, Kan. — The City of Hays will reconstruct its airport runway using a newly awarded $1.3 million federal grant. Gov. Laura Kelly announced the funding Wednesday as part of a $13.7 million infrastructure package supporting airport and energy grid upgrades across 18 Kansas communities. The $1.37 million runway project is funded primarily through the federal Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, supplemented by $65,302 from the state's Build Kansas Fund and a $3,437 local contribution.
