Hayes Drive to close for weeks as city installs new sewer main
Three-to-four-week project is tied to ongoing remediation efforts at City Water Well 12
MANHATTAN, Kan. — Drivers in Manhattan will need to navigate a weeks-long detour starting Monday, March 30, 2026, as a section of Hayes Drive closes for installation of a new sanitary sewer main, according to the city of Manhattan.
The road will be completely closed to traffic just north of Levee Drive for an estimated three to four weeks, depending on weather conditions. Motorists will be rerouted around the construction zone via Tuttle Creek Boulevard, also designated as U.S. Route 24, to Casement Road and McCall Road. Commuters should expect moderate to heavy traffic and potential delays along the detour route.
