NEWTON, Kan. — The Harvey County Commission will consider a proposed Rural Housing Incentive District for the city of Hesston on Tuesday, June 30, to help spur local residential development. Commissioners Don Schroeder, Becky Reimer and Terry Scott will review a regional housing needs assessment and incremental value financing details to determine whether the tax incentive is appropriate to address Hesston's housing needs, according to the published commission agenda.

During the 9 a.m. meeting at the county courthouse, the board will also vote on approving $545,751.38 in county warrant checks and hear a proposal from Health Department Assistant Director Toby Harkins to revise the agency's fee schedule. Additionally, Planning, Zoning and Environmental Director Karen Rothe will present information on offering free nitrate testing to local residents and walk the commission through a Local Environmental Protection Program grant questionnaire.
