.Kansan Michelle Bowman was sworn into the Federal Reserve Board as Vice Chair of Supervision last week. I was happy to attend her swearing-in ceremony. Michelle will continue to bring Kansan common sense to the Federal Reserve.

TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) — Rep. Ron Estes, R-Kan., outlined several legislative priorities and recent activities in a Sept. 21 newsletter to constituents, highlighting disaster relief efforts and retirement security measures.

Estes reported that severe storms brought flooding, winds and tornadoes to Kansas from June 3-7, 2025, particularly impacting the state's 4th Congressional District. He said he joined other lawmakers in requesting federal disaster aid, which was subsequently approved by President Trump and FEMA.

The congressman announced he introduced the Unclaimed Retirement Rescue Plan with Rep. Seth Magaziner, D-R.I. The legislation aims to help workers reconnect with lost retirement funds from previous employers by directing the Department of Labor to reunite workers with abandoned 401(k) accounts and IRAs.

Estes also highlighted efforts to implement the No Surprises Act, which was signed into law during Trump's first term. He said Republican lawmakers sent a letter to federal agency heads urging full implementation of the measure, which aims to end surprise medical bills and increase healthcare transparency.

The newsletter noted that Kansan Michelle Bowman was sworn in as vice chair of supervision for the Federal Reserve Board. Estes said he attended her ceremony and praised her appointment.

Estes also discussed the Working Families Tax Cuts legislation, which he said created rural health programs and allocated $50 billion for rural hospitals while expanding opportunity zones to create jobs in rural areas.
