From the office of Rep. Ron Estes
Our nation’s capital should be safe for all the Americans who live, visit and work there. On Sept. 2, I joined my colleagues in the Republican Study Committee to share our appreciation for President Trump’s actions to address crime in Washington.

Rep. Ron Estes welcomed Social Security Commissioner Frank Bisignano to Wichita this week for discussions about the Social Security Administration. As Chairman of the Social Security Subcommittee in the U.S. House of Representatives, Estes focused on protecting the vital program that many Americans rely on while working to improve Social Security's customer service and processes. The meeting centered on their shared commitment to enhance Social Security services and protect benefits for Kansans and all Americans, with Estes expressing his intent to continue partnering to strengthen the program and ensure its long-term solvency.

On Friday, U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Jeanine Pirro announced arrests in connection with the shooting death of Estes' intern, Eric Tarpinian-Jachym, who was killed on June 30, 2025. While acknowledging that nothing can reverse the violent act that took the life of the young man, Estes expressed hope that the arrests would bring peace and closure to Eric's family, friends and all who knew him. He thanked U.S. Attorney Pirro, Metropolitan Police Department detectives and all who worked on the case.

Estes joined his Republican Study Committee colleagues on Sept. 2 to express appreciation for President Trump's actions addressing crime in Washington, D.C. He emphasized that the nation's capital should be safe for all Americans who live, visit and work there, reflecting his broader concerns about public safety in federal jurisdictions.

The congressman has been actively touring his 4th District, visiting local businesses, touring manufacturing facilities and meeting with constituents. During these visits, he shared information about the Working Families Tax Cut and its pro-family, pro-worker provisions that will benefit Kansans. These district visits allow him to maintain direct contact with his constituents and promote federal legislation that affects them.

Estes highlighted the passage of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which Congress passed and President Trump signed into law on July 4, 2025. He described it as a tax cut for working families in Kansas and across the country. The legislation extended the Trump Tax Cuts from the 2017 Tax Cuts & Jobs Act, delivering tax relief to hardworking families nationwide.

The Working Families Tax Cut delivered on several Republican campaign promises from the 2024 election, including eliminating taxes on tips, overtime pay, and car loan interest for new vehicles, while also providing tax relief for seniors. Estes emphasized that Republicans fulfilled multiple electoral commitments through this single piece of legislation.

The law also included nearly $150 billion in funding for border security and border wall construction, demonstrating the comprehensive nature of the legislation. Estes characterized the historic legislation as pro-family, pro-growth and pro-business, asserting that the American people will benefit from the tax relief provisions contained within the law.
