Free Technology Workshops Available at Local Libraries
WINFIELD, Kan. — Two area libraries are offering free technology workshops for seniors through a partnership with AARP's Senior Planet program in November and December.
The Winfield Public Library will host workshops on Mondays from 6:30 to 8 p.m., while the Arkansas City Public Library will offer sessions on Wednesdays from 1 to 2:30 p.m.
The hands-on classes require no prior experience, and devices will be provided to participants. Topics include exploring online health resources, shopping on Amazon, staying safe online and using voice assistants.
Participants in a recent session at Winfield Public Library learned to use reliable health websites including www.medlineplus.gov, www.mayoclinic.org and www.webmd.com to research health conditions, symptoms, drug information and other medical topics.
Those interested in learning more about video chatting with Zoom can attend sessions with digital navigator Breanna Dittert at the Winfield library on Mondays, Nov. 17 and 24, at 6:30 p.m., or at the Arkansas City library on Wednesdays, Nov. 19 and 26, at 1 p.m.
Registration is required as space is limited. To reserve a spot, call the Winfield Public Library at 620-221-4470 or the Arkansas City Public Library at 620-442-1280.
