Free Press Forum Coming to McPherson College for Law Day

MCPHERSON, Kan. — A free public forum on law and a free press will take place Tuesday, April 14 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Mingenback Theatre on the McPherson College campus. "Write to Know: Law and a Free Press" brings together three journalists for a discussion of how journalism protects and strengthens the rule of law, a founding principle of democracy.

The panel features Clay Wirestone, opinion editor for the Kansas Reflector; Greg Loving, editor of the Citizen Journal; and Kaycee Carter, online editor for The Spectator, McPherson College's student newspaper. Julia Kuttler, associate professor of communication at McPherson College and faculty adviser for The Spectator, will moderate.

Wirestone has worked in newsrooms across Kansas, New Hampshire, Florida and Pennsylvania, and his writing has appeared in more than 200 outlets in 30 states. The Kansas Reflector is part of States Newsroom, the nation's largest state-focused nonprofit news organization. This event is one of the activities of "Law Day," a commemoration of the rule of law being celebrated in McPherson on May 1. The forum is free and open to the public, and questions can be directed to Kuttler at largentj@mcpherson.edu.
