Free laundry initiative launched by 17 local professionals following chamber program graduation
The Leadership McPherson Class of 2026 introduces "Suds & Smiles" to assist families while celebrating the end of its nine-week development course
MCPHERSON, Kan. — Seventeen local professionals are launching a free laundry service for McPherson County families after completing the McPherson Chamber of Commerce's nine-week leadership development program.
The ongoing initiative, dubbed "Suds & Smiles," partners with McPherson Express Laundry Center and local service organizations to provide the complimentary service, which aims to eliminate financial barriers to basic needs. A chamber representative noted the project continues a 26-year tradition of service-driven initiatives born from the program.
The intensive curriculum utilized the Kansas Leadership Center's "When Everyone Leads" framework and was guided by local facilitators:

The Leadership McPherson Class of 2026 celebrated the completion of its formal coursework with a recent luncheon at the McPherson Opera House. The 17 graduates collaborating on the community impact project include:
- Colton Arnold and Kelsi Hilger — McPherson Center for Health
- Amy Bennett and Austin Russell — The Cedars
- Brian Bowman and Addison Haiden — Bethany Village
- Suzie Hill, Jamie Hubin, Jenny Schroeder and Bonnie Smith — Farmers Alliance Mutual Insurance
- Bethany Odell, Lauren Przymus and Emily Sanner — city of McPherson
- Dara Dix — McPherson College
- Evan Kelsey — Emprise Bank
- Carlyn Lemon — Peoples Bank & Trust
