Free Child Care Training Offered April 4 in Coffeyville

COFFEYVILLE, Kan. — A free Conscious Discipline Training session will be held April 4 at Community Elementary School in Coffeyville as part of a regional effort to strengthen early childhood education across south central Kansas.

The session, part of a four-part training series, runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Community Elementary School, 102 S. Cline. Lunch will be provided. Single-session attendance is welcome, and registration is required by April 1.

The training focuses on building classroom environments where children feel safe, connected and ready to learn, while helping them develop self-control, kindness and teamwork. The session is led by Angela Fraley, a certified Conscious Discipline instructor.

Attendees are eligible to receive six continuing education units. Limited stipends for attendance are also available, according to the Sumner County Economic Development Commission, which announced the event.

The training is offered through the Child Care Zone Grant, a program involving five counties — Sumner, Cowley, Chautauqua, Elk and Montgomery — working together to invest in child care providers and families across the region.

Additional sessions in the series are scheduled for May 30 and July 11.
