Fort Riley to Launch Facial Recognition Entry System

FORT RILEY, Kan. — Fort Riley will implement facial recognition technology at its Henry and Ogden Access Control Points starting Dec. 19, 2025, allowing registered single-occupant vehicles to enter the installation without stopping to present identification. The new system, which replaces the currently suspended Trusted Traveler Program, uses cameras in designated Lane 1 at both gates to scan drivers' facial features and compare them against photos stored in the Automated Installation Entry database.

Drivers using the facial recognition lanes should approach at 3-5 mph with their driver's side window down and face visible through the windshield, proceeding when the guard booth signal light turns green. Anyone with a valid pass registered in AIE — including CAC holders, dependents, retirees and those with registered REAL ID driver's licenses — may use the system, though multiple-occupancy vehicles must still stop for credential checks. Fort Riley officials say facial recognition data is securely stored and used only for identity verification purposes following DOD security protocols. Those not registered in AIE or needing photo updates should visit the Visitor Control Center at 885 Henry Drive or call 785-239-2982.
