Former McPherson Bullpups Excel in College Volleyball
Three 2021 graduates continue strong careers as seniors prepare for postseason play.
MCPHERSON, Kan. — Three former McPherson High School volleyball standouts from the class of 2021 are making their mark at the collegiate level as they prepare for senior night celebrations and postseason competition.
Rhian Swanson has emerged as a key player for the nationally-ranked University of Kansas Jayhawks, where she ranks second on the team in kills as a starting outside hitter after patiently waiting for her opportunity to shine. Meanwhile, Ella Schmid has been a three-year starter at defensive specialist for Kansas Wesleyan University, helping lead the Coyotes to a conference championship during her stellar career. Brette Doile has made her presence felt at two institutions, first helping Cloud County Community College achieve one of their best recent seasons in the Jayhawk West Conference before transferring to UNC-Pembroke, where she starts as libero and helped the Braves reach last season's Conference Carolinas championship match.
