Flock Cameras Help Nab Stolen Vehicle Suspects in McPherson
Two arrested after 15-minute chase ends with vehicle stuck at 19th and Eisenhower
MCPHERSON, Kan. — The McPherson County Sheriff Department's new Flock license plate reader camera network led to the arrest of two suspects Saturday afternoon after alerting authorities to a stolen vehicle traveling southbound on I-135 from Smoky Valley Road. At approximately 4:04 p.m. on February 14, the automated system detected the stolen vehicle, prompting McPherson Police officers to intercept it as it entered the city at I-135 and Kansas Avenue.
After confirming the vehicle was stolen, officers attempted a traffic stop in the 100 block of South Champlin Road, but the suspects fled southbound on Centennial and continued outside city limits. A sheriff's deputy successfully deployed stop sticks to puncture the vehicle's tires, and after a 15-minute pursuit, the suspects lost control and became stuck at 19th and Eisenhower Road. Two individuals were arrested and two outstanding warrants were cleared, with no injuries reported and only vehicle damage occurring during the incident.
