First Baby of 2026 Born at McPherson Center for Health

MCPHERSON, Kan. — McPherson Center for Health welcomed its first baby of the new year when Stetson Brian was born January 2 to Austin and Maci, both McPherson residents. The birth was particularly special as Maci works as a Registered Medical Assistant and Nurse Navigator at the hospital's Rural Health Clinic, making Stetson part of the hospital family. Dr. Norton delivered the baby, and Maci praised the nursing staff for their exceptional care during delivery. Stetson's birth coincided with his paternal grandmother's birthday, and his middle name Brian honors Austin's late grandfather, continuing a family naming tradition. Austin, who works locally as an operator and welder, called Stetson "the best baby he has ever seen," noting the infant's calm temperament. The newborn joins 6-year-old half-brother Grayson, who initially wanted a sister and nicknamed the baby "Baby Hulk" but is now excited about having a baby brother. Hospital volunteers presented the family with a celebration basket containing handmade items from the facility's sewing group to mark the milestone birth.
