HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A house in Turon was destroyed by fire early Saturday, July 25, but firefighters prevented the blaze from spreading to neighboring homes. No injuries were reported, and the homeowner was not present when the fire broke out.

Crews from Reno County Fire District 1 were dispatched to the 100 block of South Martin at about 12:50 a.m., Reno County Fire Administrator Travis Vogt said. Arriving responders found the house fully involved, with two adjacent homes actively threatened by the flames.

Firefighters launched a defensive attack and contained the blaze to the single property, protecting the neighboring structures. Stations 70, 60 and 41 initially responded, while Station 10 was requested for additional manpower. Reno County EMS was also on site to provide rehabilitation services for the working crews.

The Reno County Sheriff’s Office provided traffic control during the response and opened an investigation into what sparked the fire. The exact cause remained under investigation as of the weekend.
