Fire Chief Mayberry Presents 2025 Annual Report; Call Volume Rises Following Policy Shift

MCPHERSON, Kan. — McPherson Fire Chief Chad Mayberry presented the department’s 2025 annual report to the City Commission on Tuesday, detailing a slight rise in call volume driven by expanded medical response protocols. Mayberry reported a total of 1,767 calls for service in 2025, with 1,563 occurring within city limits. The increase was largely attributed to a policy change enacted on July 1, requiring the department to respond to all medical calls rather than solely providing assistance, a shift that generated nearly 120 additional calls in the second half of the year. In addition to the operational data, Mayberry highlighted key departmental milestones, including the official opening of Station 2 on North Main Street and a staffing increase to seven personnel per shift.
