HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A Fairfield High School senior has been awarded a scholarship from a fund honoring a Reno County man known for quietly supporting young people.
Mileydi "Nataly" Chavez received $500 from the Denny Hart Family Athletic Scholarship, administered by Hutchinson Community Foundation, the organization announced May 8.

The scholarship was established by the family of Denny Hart in honor of his commitment to a behind-the-scenes approach to helping young people. It is open to any Reno County graduating senior who is involved in athletics, demonstrates a commitment to community through activities outside the classroom, shows financial need and maintains a minimum GPA of 3.0.
The fund awards two scholarships — $1,000 and $500 — to be applied during the fall semester of recipients' freshman year at any accredited college or university.
Chavez is among the class of 2026.
Hutchinson Community Foundation has granted more than $115 million since its founding in 1990. Its mission is to inspire philanthropy, collaboration and innovative leadership to strengthen Reno County communities.
