Council questions high marketing bill

EVANSTON, Wyo. — The Evanston City Council unanimously approved its monthly bills Tuesday, but not before questioning a $22,748 invoice from XO Xtreme Marketing Group. City staff clarified that the substantial bill is not an anomaly but part of an annual contract negotiated each December to advertise city events and assets. The approved bills also included municipal expenses for a new police patrol vehicle and a sewer line replacement project.

Chaparral Estates final plat tabled

EVANSTON, Wyo. — Action on the final plat for the Chaparral Estates ninth addition has been postponed until the Oct. 6 meeting following a request from Uinta Engineering. A representative from Uinta Engineering asked the city council to table the ordinance to give developers additional time to consider public recommendations and residential concerns raised during a recent Planning and Zoning Commission meeting.

Pony Express liquor license extended

EVANSTON, Wyo. — The city council granted a one-month operational extension for a liquor license held by Echelon 221 10th, LLC, doing business as The Pony Express. The new business, located in the lower level of the old post office at 221 10th St., requested the extension to Nov. 1 to proactively install fire suppression systems and complete facility preparations before officially opening its doors.

Land donated for Aspen Grove sidewalk

EVANSTON, Wyo. — A snag in an Aspen Grove sidewalk project was resolved Tuesday after the city council formally accepted a land dedication of 376 square feet from the landowner. The remnant property, originally tied to a prior landowner, was donated to allow the city the right of way necessary to complete a sidewalk installation directly behind the curb and gutter.

USGS stream gauge agreement renewed

EVANSTON, Wyo. — The city will continue its partnership with the U.S. Geological Survey to operate and maintain a stream gauge station on the Bear River behind the city recycling center. The city council approved the annual joint funding agreement, noting that the USGS absorbed a recent price increase to keep the city's costs flat for the tool, which helps monitor river flows, reservoir releases and spring flood risks.

Target Hospitality workforce hub agreement advances

EVANSTON, Wyo. — A water and wastewater agreement to service the proposed Target Hospitality workforce hub is nearing completion. City Attorney Mark Harris informed the city council that a revised draft of the agreement is currently under review by Target Hospitality, and a work session will be scheduled for the council once the company returns its final comments.

Council approves homecoming festivities

EVANSTON, Wyo. — The city council unanimously approved the Evanston High School homecoming parade route, which is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 25, at 3 p.m. Additionally, the council granted a request from the Evanston High School Student Council to use the city-leased "E-Hill" property for the traditional senior tagging and freshman whitewashing events leading up to homecoming weekend.
