EVANSTON, Wyo. - The Evanston City Council unanimously passed Ordinance 2605 on its third and final reading Tuesday, officially banning vaping and the use of electronic smoking devices in public places. The ordinance amends Chapter 10 of the city code to include vaping alongside existing smoking regulations. Resident Kathy Cook, who initially brought the issue to the council's attention, thanked officials during the meeting for making an improvement to the health and lives of local residents.
City terminates lease with Shades of Pale brewery

While the loss of the tenant was disappointing, taxpayers were reassured that the city's financial investments in the building's infrastructure were not wasted, as the improvements will remain publicly owned and benefit future tenants.

Young musicians contract approved for Celtic festival
EVANSTON, Wyo. - A $10,000 agreement with Young Musicians, Inc. was approved by the city council to support local youth music education and the annual Celtic Festival. The funds will be split evenly, with $5,000 allocated for a music camp and $5,000 for the festival, which draws large crowds to the Roundhouse each year. The resolution passed with one abstention from Council member Mike Sellers, who recused himself from the vote to avoid a potential conflict of interest, as family member Diane Sellers serves as the board president for the organization presenting the festival.

City drafting utility agreement for workforce facility
EVANSTON, Wyo. - City Attorney Mark Harris announced that the Uinta County Commission approved a lease of roughly 194 acres for a workforce facility. Following a July request from Target Hyperscale—a specialized business unit of Target Hospitality—for water and wastewater services, city staff are currently finalizing the fourth draft of a utility extension agreement. The planned workforce hub will temporarily house up to 3,500 workers supporting the construction of the Prometheus Hyperscale data center east of Evanston. The document will soon be sent to Target Hyperscale for review before coming before the city council for final approval.
