Eight community projects receive funding to address local priorities
Foundation Awards Over $60,000 in Mastermind Grants

MCPHERSON, KS — The McPherson County Community Foundation has awarded $60,700 in grants through its 2024 Mastermind initiative, funding eight projects across the county aimed at addressing priorities identified through community surveys. With Mastermind on the Road presentations scheduled throughout the area, the Foundation provided updates on projects ranging from park improvements to healthcare access and youth programs.
Among the completed projects, McPherson Main Street received $3,100 to replace umbrellas in the downtown plaza, creating vibrant gathering spaces for community events. The McPherson County Health Department's $10,000 grant expanded access to long-acting reversible contraception for county residents, while the McPherson Industrial Development Company used its $10,000 award to complete an industrial recruitment readiness analysis. Several projects remain in progress, including the Canton-Galva Site Council's $9,500 beautification project awaiting matching funds, and the Windom Lions Club's $10,000 park bathroom renovation, which recently reopened with only exterior painting remaining. The Inman Recreation Commission successfully completed its first year of after-school programming with $5,000 in matching funds, addressing critical childcare needs in the community.
