he Elyria Christian School Eagles girls basketball team battled to the final seconds before falling 43-38 to Central Christian on Monday. Pyle dominated inside with 20 points on 7-of-14 shooting despite facing double and sometimes triple-team defense, while also grabbing 9 rebounds. Stone added 7 points, including a crucial late three-pointer that kept the game within reach. Prescott contributed 5 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists, while Bower scored 4 points before leaving with an injury early in the second half. Stucky stepped up in Bower's absence with 4 second-half rebounds.
Head coach Greg Fields praised his team's execution and improvement since their earlier meeting with Central Christian. "Our girls battled hard against a very talented Central Christian team today. We could see a lot of improvement from our first game against them early in the year," Fields said. "We had a chance to tie the game in the last 10 seconds and they defended our in-bound play well, but our girls executed that play and the game plan for the entire contest very well." The Eagles will look to bounce back Thursday when they host Classical.
