Eagles Soar Past Herington 54-18
Pyle, Prescott Lead Defensive Dominance in Road Victory
The ECS Eagles girls basketball team overwhelmed Herington 54-18 Thursday night, using suffocating defense and patient offensive execution to pull away after a competitive first half. After leading just 10-6 at the end of the first quarter, the Eagles' defensive intensity elevated in the second half, holding the Railers to single digits in each of the final three periods.
Joy Pyle powered the offense with 16 points and 11 rebounds for another double-double, dominating the paint with strong rebounding and soft finishing touches around the basket. Grace Prescott matched Pyle's 16 points while wreaking havoc defensively with seven steals that she converted into transition baskets. Prescott's floor leadership helped the Eagles execute their offense with patience despite multiple defensive looks from Herington. Abigail Stone added seven points and showed continued growth on both ends of the floor as a freshman, while Haven Bower contributed five points and Amelia Moody chipped in four.
The Eagles will travel to Goessel next Tuesday looking to continue their strong play.
