Pyle and Prescott lead dominant performance as ECS heads to Lebo for semifinals

Eagles Roll in Sub-State Opener, 69-2

The ECS Eagles wasted no time making their postseason intentions known Tuesday night, rolling past Chetopa 69-2 in dominant fashion to open sub-state play.

Joy Pyle was nearly unstoppable in limited minutes, finishing with 25 points and 6 rebounds on 10-of-12 shooting — all in just under 14 minutes of action. "It was hard to play Joy very many minutes because she was so dominant," coach Greg Fields said. "She was scoring with three girls on her."

Grace Prescott was equally impressive, turning in an all-around performance with 19 points, 8 assists, and a stunning 12 steals in under three quarters of play. "Grace continued to demand excellence without pressing," Fields said. "Her 12 steals, 8 assists and 19 points show how intense she plays the game."

Amelia Moody added 8 points and 5 steals in 15 minutes, while freshmen Zoe Busenitz and Mallorie Jader made their mark in the second half. Busenitz pulled down 5 rebounds and Jader chipped in 5 points in limited time.

"This was a solid way to begin post-season as our girls came to play tonight," Fields said.

The Eagles will now travel to Lebo to face a tough opponent in the sub-state semifinals next Monday.
