Eagles Fall to Remington 54-24 in Non-League Action
Pyle Leads Scoring; Bower and Moody Shine on Boards
The Elyria Christian School Eagles dropped a 54-24 decision to Remington on Monday night, facing a talented opponent with significant size and athleticism advantages.
Joy Pyle paced the Eagles with 11 points on 4-of-8 shooting from the floor, adding five rebounds and two blocks. Grace Prescott contributed 6 points and three assists, while Abigail Stone scored 3 points on three free throws.
Despite the challenging matchup, ECS showed improvement and competed hard, particularly in the second and third quarters as they adjusted to Remington's defensive pressure and length.
"We saw improvement tonight as we faced another very tough opponent," said head coach Greg Fields. "Remington has a lot of size and athleticism. It took us a little while to adjust to their defense and figure out ways to get around their length."
The bright spot for the Eagles came on the glass, where Haven Bower and Amelia Moody each pulled down six rebounds against much taller opponents. Bower added 2 points, while Moody contributed solid defense throughout the contest.
"I was happy with the rebounding effort by Haven Bower and Amelia Moody tonight," Fields noted. "They were getting aggressive against much bigger players and did not play intimidated."
Kami Noggle chipped in 2 points for the Eagles, who shot 36 percent from the field (9-of-25) and 46.2 percent from the free-throw line (6-of-13).
The Eagles will look to bounce back Friday night when they travel to Solomon for their first league game of the season.
