Drug bust at Hutchinson residence results in three arrests, multiple charges

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Members of the Reno County Drug Enforcement Unit and the Reno County Detective Division arrested three individuals Friday afternoon following the execution of a search warrant at a Hutchinson residence.

Detectives served the warrant at 908 N. Plum St. at approximately 1:10 p.m. April 17. During the search, investigators discovered distribution amounts of multiple illicit drugs and drug paraphernalia.

Marcy Currie and Benjamin Dick were taken into custody and transported to the Reno County Correctional Facility. Both were booked on charges of possession of K2, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia with intent to distribute, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Dick faces two additional failure to appear warrants through Hutchinson Municipal Court.

Brenden Smith was arrested and booked on the following charges: distribution of fentanyl within 1,000 feet of a school, distribution of methamphetamine within 1,000 feet of a school, distribution of drug paraphernalia, felony interference, possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Smith also faces a Reno County District Court warrant for probation violation.

All three individuals are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law. Charges are subject to amendment at the discretion of the district attorney.
