Commission Approves Amendment to Keep Marshal Hotel Project on Track
DODGE CITY, Kan. — The Dodge City Commission unanimously approved a third amendment to the New West Hospitality Development Agreement on Tuesday, keeping the Marshal Hotel project at the First National Bank building on track for a scheduled Thursday closing. The 4-0 vote took place under the direction of Vice Mayor Michael Burns, as Mayor Daniel Pogue was absent from the five-member commission's special meeting. According to City Attorney Paige Gilmore, the amendment waives a previous precondition requiring telecom utilities to be relocated prior to the sale. Gilmore stated the measure grants New West Hospitality a day-for-day extension to commence and complete construction if the utilities remain unrelocated beginning Oct. 19, 2026, and it stipulates that 2026 property taxes will be prorated based on the number of months each party owns the property. Gilmore confirmed that with the amendment in place, the project is moving ahead, with the closing expected on Oct. 15.
