Derby High School Students Showcase Career Programs at Chamber Luncheon

DERBY, Kan. — Derby High School students presented their career and technical education programs at a Derby Chamber of Commerce luncheon, highlighting opportunities available to students in the classroom, community and beyond graduation.

The presentation showcased the high school's participation in partnerships and transition programs, including Derby High School's Partner Pals and Project Life at DRTC. Students demonstrated special one-hour tours from Partner Pals, a program facilitated by the Partner Pals program.

Five high school seniors took center stage, showcasing their career and technical education programs, college credit opportunities and hands-on work experience available to students.

Superintendent Heather Bohaty shared updates on future planning, including ways the community can help shape the district's long-term vision for education in Derby.

The event was part of a dual enrollment partnership between Cowley College Mulvane and Derby Public Schools, aimed at helping high school students gain hands-on experience and prepare for successful careers. One of Derby High School's students recently enrolled in Cowley College Mulvane's automotive program through the partnership.

Derby Public Schools thanked community partners for supporting the district's vision and helping create opportunities for students.
