Crowds Fill Main Street, McPherson College for 50th Anniversary Car Show
Friday cruise-in and Saturday festival celebrated half a century of the college's automotive restoration program
MCPHERSON, Kan. — Crowds of all ages filled downtown Main Street on Friday evening and turned out at McPherson College on Saturday for the 26th annual C.A.R.S. Club Motoring Festival, a weekend showcase marking the 50th anniversary of the college's automotive restoration program. The festival opened with a Friday, May 1, cruise-in along Main Street and continued Saturday, May 2, with a campus car show running from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. under sunny skies.

Saturday's lineup included a 1908 American Underslung, a 1948 Tucker, three General Motors concept vehicles, a 1959 Cadillac Cyclone and a 1968 Lamborghini 400GT, displayed alongside in-progress student restoration projects. The college rounded out the day with live jazz, food trucks and public tours of Templeton Hall, home to its automotive restoration program. "The car show is the biggest event we have on campus, drawing alumni and cars from all corners of the country," said Ernest Skehan, the event's student chair.
