WINFIELD, Kan. — Cowley County is offering a free workshop next month aimed at giving local workers and business leaders hands-on experience with artificial intelligence tools, according to a Facebook post from Cowley County, KS Government.

The "AI Starter Lab," presented by FlagshipKansas.Tech, will be held in person from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 1, at the Cowley County Courthouse North Annex, 320 E. 9th Ave. in Winfield. Lunch will be provided from 11:30 a.m. to noon, followed by the workshop from noon to 1:30 p.m.

The session is designed to build leadership-level confidence in AI tools and help participants understand the capabilities, limitations and real-world applications of the technology, according to the post. Topics will include how to apply AI to strategic, operational and creative challenges, align teams around ethical and responsible AI use, and use the technology to streamline everyday tasks and improve decision-making.

The workshop is taught by Kansas tech leaders with real-world AI expertise, the post said. Attendees must bring their own laptop or mobile device, and registration is required as space is limited.

The event is sponsored in partnership with Workforce Alliance, KansasWorks Workforce Center South Central Kansas, REAP and FlagshipKansas.Tech.

The Cowley County Economic Development Partnership shared the opportunity in a separate post June 4, saying the training is open to business owners, managers, entrepreneurs, nonprofit leaders or anyone curious about how AI tools can save time, improve work and support better decision-making.

Those interested in attending can sign up through the registration link or QR code included in the original announcement.
