County to Pay $150,000 Yearly for Bridge Safety Inspections
Public Works evaluates bids from two engineering firms for comprehensive inspection program

McPherson County will face a new $150,000 annual expense for bridge inspections as the Public Works Department moves forward with a comprehensive safety program, officials announced at Monday's County Commission meeting. Public Works Director David Bohnenblust told commissioners his department is reviewing proposals from engineering firms Kirkham Michael and Professional Engineering Consultants (PEC) to inspect between 20 and 40 county bridges monthly over a two-year cycle. The inspection program aims to ensure the structural integrity of the county's bridges and identify maintenance needs before they become critical safety issues.
