MCPHERSON, Kan. — Crews conducted controlled burns Wednesday morning at Turkey Creek Golf Course as part of the course's annual turf and land management routine. One of the McPherson Fire Department's newly unveiled attack trucks — designed for faster, more agile response to grass and brush fires — was spotted on scene mid-morning, standing by as a safety precaution during the burn. Turkey Creek remains open year-round, weather permitting, and is currently offering winter rates of $29 for 18 holes with a cart through March 1, when rates increase to $40 on weekdays and $45 on weekends.
