Community group offers free lunch in Hutchinson

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A community-led initiative will provide free meals to residents Saturday, Dec. 27, as part of its ongoing effort to address food insecurity in the area.

The People's Table, a project by Hutch in Harmony and Wisdom in Motion, will serve lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Main Street, just before the Carey Park entrance. The event is open to all community members on a drive-thru or walk-up basis.

The menu includes ham, cheesy potatoes, green beans and banana bread, provided in partnership with Now Serving Lunch, a local organization that has regularly supplied meals for the initiative.

The organization, classified as a non-governmental organization, describes its mission as sharing meals, recipes and care with the community. It operates without cost to recipients and emphasizes a neighbor-helping-neighbor approach.

The lunch service marks another installment in the group's regular community meal program, which aims to foster connection while addressing basic needs.

Those interested in attending can visit the Main Street location during the designated time. No registration or payment is required.
