Community Grants Transform Local Facilities
Recent projects enhance accessibility, safety, and infrastructure across the county

MCPHERSON, Kan. —This week brings exciting updates from several community grant recipients who are making significant improvements to their facilities. The Smoky Valley Arts & Folklife Center has broken ground on a crucial bathroom renovation project designed to provide ADA-accessible restrooms for gallery visitors, ensuring that arts and culture remain accessible to all community members. Meanwhile, Soderstrom Elementary has cleared their gymnasium floor in preparation for installing new flooring and mats, replacing the original floor that has served students since the gymnasium's construction.
In a collaborative effort to enhance public safety, the McPherson Public Library has successfully installed emergency Naloxone and an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) at their facility. This life-saving initiative represents a partnership between the Library, MCCF, the City of McPherson, and the McPherson Fire Department, demonstrating how community organizations can work together to create safer public spaces. These grant-funded projects showcase the ongoing commitment to improving local infrastructure and services that benefit residents of all ages and abilities.
