City Secures $4.5M for Kansas Avenue Reconstruction

Project will completely rebuild stretch from Highway 81 Bypass to Maple Street starting in 2027.

MCPHERSON — The City of McPherson has secured $4.5 million in state funding for a major reconstruction of Kansas Avenue (US Highway 56) from the Highway 81 Bypass to Maple Street, with work scheduled to begin in 2027. The $6.5 million project received $3 million through the City Connecting Link Improvement Program and an additional $1.5 million from the Kansas Department of Transportation. The complete overhaul will include new pavement, curb and gutter, and valley gutters along the heavily traveled corridor.
